The Story Behind Still Life

Incredible as it might sound, Still Life emerged from a robbery and a love affair. In 2001, my bag was stolen. After walking around with my head hanging low for four days with a stick on my shoulder and handkerchief filled with my coins, as if I were a tramp, I got hold of a pair of jeans, cut off the legs, decorated them with some feathers, threaded through a belt and hey presto! : a bag. I went out on the streets proud of my creation, so functional and beautiful at the same time. The ladies were in agreement. I heard them praising it as I crossed the street, waitresses asked where I had bought it from, girls at check out desks in supermarkets said "hey! your bag is really cool!" My lover at the time also liked it. He gave me a pair of Jean Paul Gaultier leather trousers to transform into a bag… That is how Still Life started.
